UGUISU NO FUN - Face Pack For Skin Lightening and Beautifying

Uguisu is the name of the Japanese nightingale. Apart from the nightingale being known for its beautiful song, nightingale droppings are also used in Japan as a traditional application for silky white skin. The story is that a maiden had fallen asleep under a tree where some nightingale droppings fell on to her face. Later on when she woke up and washed off the dried 'poop' she noticed how how her skin had become much smoother in texture and lighter in colour.
The powdered nightingale guano is a fine powder that is mixed to form a paste and applied to the skin as a face pack. It is mildly lightening on the skin while smoothing the complexion and leaves the skin feeling soft and nourished.
The uguisu no fun is a traditional skin care product safely sold and hygienically collected for cosmetic skin purposes. The fun or droppings contain certain ammonic properties that appear to gently bleach the skin while smoothing and toning the complexion. UGF contains naturally occuring anti-ageing Fucoidan.

The hechima plant produces a gourd which is dried and then used to make the famous luffah sponge for exfoliating the skin while bathing. Another use for the sponge plant is an age old remedy in Japan and the juice from the roots and stems are siphoned off to make a skin care lotion. The hechima water has an earthy aroma and is renowned for moisturising and softening rough skin, for skin lightening, anti-perspirant and astringent. It also has anti inflammatory, anti-allergic (bryonolic acid) properties. It is cooling and soothing and is thought to stop sun spots or brown patches on the skin which are caused by the strong sunlight and UV rays in summer. Therefore it is usually kept in the fridge and patted on the face in summer to avoid a suntan.

Silkworm cocoons Mayutama contain a naturally woven silk protein called sericin. Sericin helps balance the skin's amino acid content, and stimulates the epidermis - outer layer of skin. These cocoons measure about 3cms x 2 cms and fit neatly on to the end of the fingertip.
